Urbanage

Updated: Aug 16, 2018

PAB was one of the five offices invited to work on an urban research project for Urban Age Confrence held in Istanbul in 2009. Urban Age is a conference series realized by London School of Economics (LSE) Cities Program to investigate global metropoles.

PAB worked on Haliç (Golden Horn) to formulate it as a coherently planned and managed waterfront that will both serve locals as well as general public of the city center. The model was studied at two scales. An interaction zone in the local scale is proposed to create pedestrian flow, revitalize the park, provide open space, and diversify functional layout to enliven the waterfront. The projection was to enable a stronger bonded recreation and public zone along Golden Horn coast via the continuity among these local interaction zones. Studies are published in a book titled "Five Visions" edited by Ömer Kanıpak.
